Hello, I’m
Nick Mitchell
Hello, and thanks for visiting!
My name is Nick Mitchell, and I am a UX Designer who creates thoughtful and user-focused designs in the Pacific Northwest.
My experience as a wedding photographer and artist helps me to push my designs to always be as user-focused and memorable as possible if I can make the bride cry tears of joy when looking at her photos I know I did my job, I take this same approach to my design process and creations.
As a wedding photographer, I learned to work solo and working with others (wedding coordinators, other photographers, videographers, the family, etc.) to ensure the event goes as planned and on schedule. This skill set translates perfectly with the position I am running run.
I create meaningful, reliable designs and interactions that will draw my users back in again and again and leave them feeling the same way a bride feels looking at her wedding photos for the first time.
The old saying "It's for the bride.." really means just do what it takes to make the user happy and have the best experience possible.
Why am
I Running?
I’ve spent my career redesigning complex systems to make them more intuitive, transparent, and responsive. As a UX designer, I don’t just look at problems—I observe, listen, and co-create better solutions. I’m running for County Commissioner because I believe Douglas County deserves leadership that puts people at the center of every decision.
As a Lead Designer, it has been my role to ensure we are answering the right questions, understanding the requirements set before us, and that we are truly solving the problems at the heart of the issues, not the low-hanging fruit that is easy to identify. It is imperative to success that our teams work together, provide clarity and transparency to all involved, and those we serve. If we work in silo and only share information when it comes time to vote, we have failed to provide the team with time to review and understand why we are doing or suggesting solutions.
When we work together we thrive
More importantly, success comes from working with a team dedicated to helping our county thrive. No single person can be the star of this effort, and that truth is not lost on me. The people we surround ourselves with—and how we work together—are what set us up to succeed. I believe we must rely on our local experts to help this county reach its full potential. We live in one of the most beautiful counties in the state, and it’s our responsibility to do everything we can to preserve it.
